Edinburgh Softball LeagueCo-Ed Slowpitch League
Season started 01/01/2017
The Edinburgh Softball League began as a closed Surveyors League in the early 1990s, with six teams who were helped with coaching and umpiring by the only local softball club, the Picts. The league was administered by a Sports Consultancy before the teams themselves took over the running of it in 1999.
Once the league was established, the Picts were allowed to join and continue their association with the league. Many of their players went on to form new teams, helping the ESL to grow to what it is today. There are still a few company teams playing.
League play starts early in May and ends late in August, just before the Edinburgh Festiball Tournament (www.festiball.com). Games are played at 6:30 pm on Monday through Thursday evenings, with up to three games per night at Telford College Sports Grounds on Marine Drive [map].
